Winter in Bad Kleinkirchheim
Toboggan fun at Kärntnerhof

Tobogganing outings with the Kärntnerhof

Fun for all toboggan enthusiasts

It’s late Thursday afternoon. Outside, landscapes clad in a white blanket, the temperatures are below zero. The hotel lobby is getting busy with young and old, warmly wrapped up in skiwear, scarves, and woolly hats.

Guided by Dietmar Krenn and holiday coach Elli, around two dozen hotel guests head out into the mountains to enjoy winter in Bad Kleinkirchheim.

The tractor taxi takes the cheerful crowd up to almost 1,700 m above sea level. ‘Race director’ Dietmar Krenn gives a short introduction into the right technique before the first stage is tackled. But no, wait, Elli is called in to negotiate seating arrangements and starting position anew! Finally, riders and sleds are ready for take- off! Push once, hop on the sledge and whizz down to the Unterwirthütte of the Krenn family at around 1,400 m sea level.
Time for a short pit stop in the cozy hut parlor to recharge with one or two hot drinks. Hop on again and lights on! Thanks to the brightly lit toboggans provided by your hosts, all participants are optimally equipped for the next, 7 km long stretch. After all, nobody wants to collide with a wild animal on the run which has gotten dark by now. Whether solo or with a co-pilot at your side – lots of toboggan action and fun is guaranteed!
